AI nutrition assistant
vitaloop is a nutrition app that works like an assistant: tell it what you ate — with a photo, out loud or in writing — and it hands back the full nutrient profile of each food. Calories and macros, yes, but also vitamins, minerals, fatty acids, water, alcohol and caffeine: 42 fields per food.
It is built for people who want to know what is actually in their food and would rather have numbers than hunches. It runs on iPhone, iPad and Android, in English, Spanish and Catalan.
For iPhone and iPad, and for Android phones and tablets.

What the assistant does
Photo, voice and text in one chat
Snap the plate, dictate what you had, or just type it: “smoked salmon toast with cream cheese and a flat white”. The AI splits it into ingredients, estimates the amounts and shows you the breakdown before anything is saved, and you can adjust the grams of each ingredient right there. For packaged food, scan the barcode or type in the number.
It asks instead of guessing
When what you describe could be more than one food — a green or a gold kiwi, a red or a green pepper — the assistant doesn't pick for you. It shows the alternatives as buttons next to the item, and one tap settles it.
42 nutrients per food
Energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat, fibre and sugars; saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat, cholesterol, omega-3, EPA+DHA and omega-6; 13 vitamins, 13 minerals, water, alcohol and caffeine. Foods come from the USDA FoodData Central and ANSES-CIQUAL composition tables.
Reference values that fit you
27 of those fields have a reference value personalised by your age and sex. For nearly all vitamins and minerals we use the values set by EFSA, the European Food Safety Authority, and the app tells you where each figure comes from.
What the label leaves out
A packaged product's label declares only a handful of nutrients. From its ingredient list, vitaloop estimates the missing vitamins and minerals, so that yoghurt or that packet of biscuits counts towards your totals like any other food.
Meal ideas for what's left of your day
Every day it suggests meal ideas based on what you've already eaten and what remains of your macro and micronutrient targets, taking your allergies, intolerances and favourite cuisines into account.
Patterns in your week
Once you've logged five days in a week, the app starts lining your data up: afternoon caffeine and sleep, alcohol and heart rate, late dinners, training days. Each comparison says whether the difference is consistent or still lost in your normal day-to-day swing, and every week you get a written report built on those patterns.
Connected to Apple Health and Health Connect
With your permission, weight, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, steps and active calories come in on their own. And if you like, vitaloop writes your meals back.
Your data stays in Europe
It is stored on EU servers and covered by GDPR, and we don't sell personal data. The AI features ask for a separate permission that spells out what is sent and to whom; without it, manual logging keeps working.
What it looks like

How it works
- 1
Set up your profile
Age, sex, height, weight and goal. That is what your macro targets and reference values are calculated from.
- 2
Tell it what you eat
A photo, your voice, a line of text or a barcode. Check the breakdown, fix anything that's off and add it to your log.
- 3
See how the day is going
Calories, macros and every vitamin and mineral against your reference value, with the meals that contributed most to each.
- 4
Let the week speak
After a few days of logging come the meal ideas, the patterns and the weekly report.
What's free
The Free plan covers manual and barcode logging, micronutrients and analytics. The AI features need Pro or Max; prices are in the questions below.
Questions about the assistant
What is an AI nutrition assistant?+
An app that turns what you eat into data without making you look up every food by hand. In vitaloop you describe a meal with a photo, your voice or a line of text; the AI identifies the ingredients and amounts, checks them against food composition tables (USDA and CIQUAL) and returns 42 nutrients per food.
Is it free?+
The download and the Free plan are: manual and barcode logging, micronutrients, recipes, history and analytics. The AI features — the photo, voice and text chat, meal ideas, patterns and the weekly report — need Pro (9,90 €/mo or 49,90 €/yr) or Max (14,90 €/mo or 69,90 €/yr). Prices include VAT.
Where does the nutrition data come from?+
USDA FoodData Central and ANSES-CIQUAL for foods, and Open Food Facts for packaged products. Reference values for nearly all vitamins and minerals are EFSA's. The data may contain inaccuracies, so always check anything important against the label.
Which languages and countries?+
The interface, the AI chat and the food names are in English, Spanish and Catalan, and you can switch language at any time. For now the app is available in Spain only.
Does it replace a dietitian?+
No. vitaloop is a personal nutrition and data-logging app, not a medical device under Regulation (EU) 2017/745, and it does not diagnose or prescribe diets. What it can do is help you arrive at an appointment with data: Pro and Max export a report of every meal and supplement you logged, ready to open in Excel.
